Process Analytics Factory GmbH receives funding from BMBF in the area of industry 4.0

Darmstadt, 1 March 2017 – The Process Analytics Factory (PAF) receives a six-figure grant from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) for the development of a novel industry 4.0 Process Mining analysis platform. The research project under the leadership of PAF is carried out in cooperation with DFKI (German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence), Incloud GmbH and Brabant & Lehnert Werkzeugs-und Vorrichtungsbau GmbH and is scheduled to run for two years.

The aim of the funded project is to network production data, planning data and customer data for production planning in real time and to evaluate them in such a way that production planning is possible at runtime. The results of the research project will primarily help manufacturing companies that are particularly affected by dynamic changes in the area of Industry 4.0.

“We are very pleased with the approval of the funding project and the validation of our work. The support of the BMBF enables us to optimize production and production planning processes in real time by using new Process Mining methods”, says Tobias Rother, managing director of PAF.

Prof. Dr. Peter Fettke hopes to expand the leading position in the field of business process management using artificial intelligence techniques. “It is precisely at the interface between Business Process Management, Artificial Intelligence and Industry 4.0 that a wide range of innovations will be observed in the coming years, which we will be able to shape at an early stage with the planned project”, explains Professor Fettke.

Steffen Müller, managing partner of Incloud GmbH, says “The support of the BMBF shows us that there is a real need here among German SMEs. We will use our expertise in software development to get closer to an optimal solution for the challenges in production planning”.

Bernhard Lehnert, managing partner of Brabant & Lehnert Werkzeugs-und Vorrichtungsbau GmbH, emphasizes the importance of a medium-sized company’s participation in this project in the Industry 4.0 area.

The “ProPlanE” project is funded by the BMBF under the funding code S01IS16040A and is supervised by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) as project management agency. For more information see http://www.softwaresysteme.pt-dlr.de/index.php
