PAF goes USA: German Accelerator selects Process Mining pioneer from Darmstadt
- German Accelerator Jury convinced of the growth potential of PAF in the USA
- Access to the global partner and investor network in the New York location
- PAF as second German Process Mining Company on the American market
- Integration with Microsoft Power BI, innovative power and global democratization approach as key competencies
The Process Analytics Factory (PAF), a Process Mining start-up from Darmstadt, was selected as a participant in the German Accelerator Program. PAF and its Process Mining solution PAFnow will thus gain access to a global network of partners and investors and will be supported by experienced experts and mentors in New York from April to June 2020 in its expansion course in the USA. PAFnow is a tool completely integrated in Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Office 365 for analysis, visualization and optimization of almost any process.
Tobias Rother, CEO and founder of PAF sees this as confirmation of the path that the start-up, founded in 2014, has taken:
“With this participation, we can continue our growth course in the USA. We are the second German Process Mining company ever to gain a foothold in the USA and have enormous customer potential here. Nowhere else is Process Mining growing so rapidly. 97 percent of the Fortune 500 companies already use Microsoft Power BI. And this is exactly where we have a unique selling point and thus the chance to become market leader. Participation in the German-Accelerator Program is an important step on this path, because it helps us with our go-to-market strategy, improves our US-specific marketing approach and expands our partner network in a flash,” says Tobias Rother about the jury’s decision.
Global growth through democratization approach
Last year PAF was already able to grow in all important regions worldwide and to acquire new customers, especially in the US market. This was due to the strong democratization approach of PAF, which provides “PAFnow Process Mining”, a free version for all Microsoft Power BI users in Microsoft AppSource. Thousands of users in the USA and Canada have taken advantage of this offer and started a fast and comprehensive introduction to Process Mining. This is also the strongest regional growth for PAF. A further contribution to this regional expansion is made by PAF certified consulting companies in the USA, which realize consulting projects with PAFnow or offer Process Mining with PAFnow as a managed service.
International customers include, for example, the global packaging company Amcor in the USA, the energy supplier Fortis and Air Canada in Canada, the financial services provider Legal & General in Great Britain, the largest Indian construction and engineering company Larsen & Toubro and BCI Bank, one of the 20 largest banks in Latin America. In the DACH market, PAFnow is used by, among others, Daimler AG, MAN SE, Heidelberg Druck, Merck KGaA, Giesecke+Devrient with solutions for securing payment processes, identities, connectivity and data as well as Viessmann, a globally operating energy system manufacturer, which recently implemented the world’s largest ERP transformation to SAP S/4HANA in the industrial environment.
“We are very pleased that we were able to convince the German Accelerator jury of PAF’s global growth potential,” explains Tobias Rother. “The support enables us to get off to an even faster start, especially in North America. The entire PAF team is looking forward to New York and to benefiting from the extensive network and many years of experience of the German Accelerator program,” Tobias Rother continued.
A global player after just five years
“In a highly competitive market, PAF has managed to leverage and expand a unique competitive advantage within a very short period of time. Through integration into the world’s leading business intelligence platform Microsoft Power BI, we offer a true ‘closed loop’ in process optimization: from analysis to optimization and back again. In a single application environment, across different teams and installation-free,” says Tobias Rother about the rapid growth of PAF, which he founded in 2014 and led to success without external funding. PAF’s customers can use their existing Office 365 infrastructure to cost-effectively deliver reports and dashboards based on Process Mining to exactly those areas of the company where process problems arise, can be identified in real time and solved immediately.
Open Data and innovative power
A further advantage of PAF is the open data model, which allows integration from almost any previous system. In addition, companies can use ready-made best-practice packages to analyze processes from all data sources directly and automatically. “PAFnow is constantly being further developed so that our users benefit from the latest technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotic Process Automation or Block Chain. With this commitment, PAF is taking a leading international position in the Process Mining market in innovation research“, says Timo Nolle, CTO of PAF, about PAF’s innovative lead. An overview of previous research projects can be found on the PAF research page.
Making the most of existing infrastructures
This is where Timo Nolle sees a fundamental difference to competitors: “PAF has thought a little longer than others about many aspects of Process Mining. Our focus is not on developing proprietary technologies. It is not about displacing existing infrastructure and reinventing the wheel. On the contrary, it is about intelligently evaluating the data available in IT systems so that the results can be used directly to optimize processes. For example, for actions within the scope of workflow automation, RPA or Machine Learning. This smart integration of PAFnow into the customer’s back-end systems on the one hand, and into the digital workplace Microsoft Office 365 on the other hand, is a protection of investments already made and at the same time an opportunity for companies to increase the productivity of their employees by helping them to really understand and improve their current processes“.
