AprilTalks Keynote – Prof. Dr. Ir. Wil van der Aalst

Darmstadt, 25.02.2019 - The analysis and optimization of business processes are central drivers in the further development of companies today. This is achieved, among other things, through the targeted use of Process Mining. But where is the future of this technology headed?

At this year’s AprilTalks, you will hear the answer to this question first hand. Because the founder and “Godfather” of Process Mining himself, Prof. Dr. Ir. Will van der Aalst will give the keynote address at the event. In his lecture entitled “Process Mining - What’s Next?" he will reflect on the possibilities and limits of today’s technologies as well as on the promises of the next generation of Process Mining.

Basically, the point is that Process Mining has quickly become a standard procedure for the analysis of performance and compliance problems. The impact of Process Mining on business process management is remarkable. This is mainly due to the abundance of event data in organizations as well as the powerful Process Mining tools that have been developed over the last years. Therefore it is interesting to see which functionalities are already available today and which ones can be expected in the next years - we look forward to all of these points in the keynote.

Why is Prof. Dr. Ir. Wil van der Aalst called the “Godfather of Process Mining”? He is a full professor at the RWTH Aachen University and heads the PADS (Process and Data Science) group. He also works at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology (FIT), where he heads the FIT’s Process Mining group, and at the Technical University of Eindhoven (TU/e). Many of the innovations and concepts that are at the core of today’s Process Mining tools originate from the research of Prof. Dr. Ir. Wil van der Aalst and his team and thus he is considered the founder of Process Mining.

We at PAF are very pleased to welcome him as keynote speaker at the AprilTalks.
